The Speed Art Museum “Speed Family Pass” program will increase the impact of our school education programs and reach new audiences by inviting children to return to the Museum with their families for free. With the goal of further engaging students and their parents, the Speed will distribute free admission passes to all students who participate in school programs with the Speed during the 2017/18 school year. This includes both field trips to the Museum and Art Detectives, our outreach program that takes artworks from the Museum’s education collection to classrooms for hands-on investigation. Together, these programs reach approximately 20,000 students throughout Louisville and the tristate area, creating a vital resource that connects art across all disciplines.
As families explore the Museum’s galleries on one of our daily docent-led tours, sketch in front of works of art, listen to musical performances, and have fun in Art Sparks, they learn and connect to art and each other. These programs are free with admission and enhance all visitors’ experiences with the permanent collection and rotating exhibitions. By removing the cost of admission, Speed Family Passes will allow families throughout the city to visit the Museum and engage with these programs on the day of their choice.
